Hi! Whether you’ve been with me for a while or this is your first newsletter, it’s great to send three acts with you. Have a read about what I’ve been up to in the last month, and let’s reflect on what’s going on for you. Grab a beverage, and enjoy!
Act One, A Residency Begins
I'm thrilled to announce that I’ve been named a Resident Artist at The Dance Hall in Kittery, Maine from July through December 2025, alongside three extraordinary artists. This residency means I’ll have the opportunity to share the behind-the-scenes process of my current projects each month — offering an inside scoop on what’s unfolding in the studio and chances for us to play together.
To kick things off, I’m inviting you to join me for a special workshop:
Movement Before The Movement
Monday, June 24th
The Dance Hall, Kittery, ME
Only a few tickets left: Grab yours here
This workshop is a space for artists, organizers, and anyone craving connection to move, reflect, and reawaken the body’s knowledge — before the big moves, before the shift, before the change.
Let’s begin together.
Act Two, Another Residency Begins
As hinted in a recent dispatch, I’m excited to officially share that America’s Unraveling will be developed through the Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab at the Alliance Theatre over the next year. I’ll be working with a phenomenal collective of artists, led by the incredible Lauren Morris, to bring this new play to life — one stitch, one story at a time.
We’ve already begun meeting bi-weekly online, and this week’s session led us through a garment diary — a simple but powerful exercise reflecting on a single item from our wardrobes. That same activity is coming to the special fashion dispatch later this month, so if you’re curious about your closet’s hidden archive, this is the perfect time to sign up and join the journey:
Subscribe to the Fashion Dispatch, covering all aspects of my practice relating to justice in the textile industry, including my no-new-clothes challenge.
Mark your calendar: A workshop performance of the play is planned for May 2026 in Atlanta.
Not in Georgia? Don’t worry — the project is designed to travel. Thanks to the Dance Hall residency, there will also be opportunities to interact with the work right here on the East Coast.
Wherever you are, I hope you’ll come along. There’s room for your voice in the weave.
Act Three, Not a Residency, But a Retreat
Huge thanks to the radiant Bess Welden, my creative co-conspirator, for reminding me that not all meaningful practice happens in official residencies — sometimes, you have to make your own retreat.
We packed up and headed to North Adams for the National Arts Strategies Homecoming, immersing ourselves in the wisdom of bold artistic leaders... and the warmth of the outdoor hot tub at the Porches Inn. Bess nudged me to think of this time not as an escape, but a retreat: a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate how far we’ve come. We toasted our wins (and our delicious Philly cheesesteaks from Big Daddy’s) with beers at Bright Ideas Brewery, under the Berkshires sky.
Oh, how I love North Adams. I'd move there in a heartbeat if the ocean weren’t tugging at my ankles. That said, the presence of MASS MoCA just a few hours away feels like a magnetic pull — and I’m saying this here, out loud, to all of you:
I want a residency at MASS MoCA.
No plan yet. Just desire. But naming it here feels like the first step.
So — what’s your next creative endeavor?
What dream are you ready to name?
There’s no time like the present to whisper, or shout, it into the world.
Until next time,
